ABSTRACT

In the second trimester, ◦ Evidence of fetal anomalies (e.g., urinary obstruc-

tion or dysfunction) ◦ Severe fetal growth restriction (FGR; associated

with fetal aneuploidy) ◦ Assist in the confirmation of preterm premature rup-

ture of the fetal membranes (PPROM) In the late second and third trimesters of pregnancy, as

above, plus ◦ Used along with the nonstress test (NST) or with the

other components of the biophysical profile (BPP) in the assessment of fetal well being in pregnancies at risk for an adverse outcome.
