ABSTRACT

202Controlling the formation of electrospun polymer nanofibers are vital in the electrospinning process. Applying Ac potential on the resulting mats exhibits a significant reduction in the amount of fiber whipping, and a higher degree of fiber alignment. By utilizing this method, fiber radius can be easily controlled. In this chapter, a mathematical model will be investigated to explore the physics behind AC-electrospinning. A relationship between the radius of the jet and the axial distance from nozzle, and a scaling relation between fiber radius and the AC frequency will be obtained.
