ABSTRACT
The Heritage is a document of history and culture that allows knowledge of a society that lived in past times, so the cultural become evidence of different cultures and intellectual realized and it be resulting an essential part of the formation of people. In the case of bridges located on the Paraibuna river, in the Juiz de Fora city (Minas Gerais state, Brazil), are tourist attractions since they were built as a result of the Dom Pedro II railroad (building in the beginning in XX century), requiring the conservation and maintaining the integrity theirs as a single product of the specific technology of its time.
The diagnosis must be based on historical approaches and qualitative approaches (based on the direct observations of structural damage and material deterioration) and quantitative approaches (based on series of the tests, surveys and analysis of the materials and structures).
This work made the historical and documentary survey of 3 of the 12 bridges, namely:

This research was based only on historical approaches and qualitative approaches through direct observations of structural damage (mapping damages). The state of analysis will be conducted assessments of the conservation status, degree of characterization, mapping and photographic about the damage and recommendations about the intervention.
Among the recommendations to be adopted in order to maintain the integrity of these restorations and to seeking to insert the concept of sustainable development, namely:
– Restoration – restore is the multidisciplinary approach for preparing recovery and reinforcement project having as fundamental base the safety assessment and maintenance of the social and historical significance of the building;
– Each of the interventions must meet the minimum security for the users and ensure safety and durability with the lowest costs;
– The design of intervention should consider the actual damage and those who may act in the future;
– In the case where there is need for urgent interference, to ensure the integrity of the building, these interventions should avoid permanent change;
– The choice of “innovative” products should set case by case basis, with preference for less invasive techniques and more compatible with the heritage;
– 433Whenever possible the measures adopted should be reversible and replaced by more appropriate measures with the evolution of knowledge;
– Compatibility of materials employees in restoration – repair with existing materials should be fully known;
– And finally, the intervention should, as far as possible to respect the original design and techniques, including his historical evidence.
Integrating the technical parameters that can be used, professionals and trained people (or untrained?) involved in the process of developing restoration projects and interventions should consider it is a multidisciplinary area and the diagnosis presented it’s a real necessity intervention in today’s Brazil, including Juiz de Fora city.
