ABSTRACT

Bridges and viaducts may show some pathologies due to their utilization through the years, especially when the regular maintenance actions are not made or the structure was not designed according to the current traffic standards. In these cases, the structure needs some interventions, in order to recuperate its problems and improve its structural capacity. Among the strengthening technics, prestressed external tendons can be used with good results. This work presents the case of the Bridge on the Samambaias River, located in the state of Paraná, Brazil.
