ABSTRACT

Many state and local jurisdictions have authority that impact how groundwater is managed. Awareness, information and education are essential for science based decisions about groundwater allocation, protection, and sustainability. Examples are provided that show the role of citizen organizations and interest groups in framing issues and providing a voice for stakeholders in groundwater governance in the United States.
