ABSTRACT
This paper constructs measure indexes of the international fragmentation production of the manufacturing industry based on the available data of the parts and components trade. With the use of the trade data of China’s manufacturing goods by SITC Rev.3, the paper measures the international fragmentation of China’s manufacturing production with Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, North America and Oceania, and so on. It also analyses China’s product types, which participated significantly in the international fragmentation of production. The results show that the Chinese manufacturing industry has the highest degree of fragmentation in production with North America and Asia. The second highest is with Europe and Latin America, and the last is with Africa and Oceania. The method of China’s fragmentation production with Asia, Europe, North America and Latin America is more dependent on importing parts and components. However, the method with Africa and Oceania is dependent on exporting parts and components. In addition, China’s participation in international fragmentation of production is concentrated.
