ABSTRACT

In order to coordinate relations between charging facility configuration and charging of Electric Vehicles (EVs), two coordinated charging strategies based on uniform electricity price or the conventional constant power charging ways were presented here for EVs according to conventional load types at workplace, parking characteristics of EVs and matching of parking space and charging infrastructure. In detail, they were parallel charging strategy and grouping serial charging strategy. Workplace power distribution systems were subsequently constructed for such two strategies. Besides, the average annual operating cost of charging station was used as an objective function to establish an EV charging optimization model. Finally, the corresponding simulation results indicated that, comparing with the parallel charging strategy, the grouping serial charging strategy was able to not only bring down operating costs of charging stations and charging costs of EVs, but alleviate impacts on a power grid. In this manner, an effective solution could be provided for charging facility configuration and EV charging.
