ABSTRACT

In this paper a novel approach for modelling and simulation of a centrifugal compressor based on bond graph theory is proposed. The heat-work conversion, heat transfer, mass transfer and other energy interactions in the system were analysed by the bond graph method which offers a different perspective to pervious work. The main parts of the compressor system were mathematically modelled for developing compressor characteristics. The comparison of the modelled and measured data shows good agreement both in steady working condition and deep surge condition. Furthermore, the effects of different plenum volume on the amplitude and frequency of the outlet pressure when the compressor operates in deep surge were simulated and analysed.
