ABSTRACT
The need for promoting and extending the science of contamination-free man ufacturing (CFM) is directly linked to the defect reduction (DR) requirements outlined in the National Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (NTRS) [1]. This chapter is a brief overview of the DR section of the NTRS with particular emphasis on the technology requirements of CFM and contamination control, the subjects of this book.
