ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the discussions related to the importance of nanoscale technology. It explains the descriptions of the electromagnetic mechanism (EM) aspects of some micro- as well as nano-sized optical structures/systems, specifically in terms of their propagation characteristics observed upon penetrations by the EM waves in the optical frequency regime. The chapter highlights remarks on the medicinal applications of nanotechnology followed by some experimental as well as theoretical observations in the context of the dynamics of nanoparticles, which would possibly find a springboard place in the study of the delivery of drugs after further rectifications of the arriving problems. It analyses the essence of the fusion of micro- and nanoscale technologies. The chapter provides illuminating ideas and the associated principles followed by the discussions of the EM wave propagation through some microscale optical structures followed by the use of cavity quantum electrodynamics in nanophotonic waveguidance.
