ABSTRACT
Fieldbuses are communication networks specically conceived for applications in factory automation systems. They have started to be deployed, approximately, at the beginning of the 1990s and since then their growth has been impressive: indeed, it is estimated that several hundreds of million eldbus nodes are currently installed.
