ABSTRACT

Intelligent mechatronics is a machine system that has its own entity and equips human-like or creature-like smart abilities. The concept of “intelligent” is, however, ambiguous; hence, there is no clear definition because the meanings and the nuance are modified according to individual intention of a designer who deals with the concept. Intelligent mechatronics basically consists of the electronics-mechanism unit and the information processing unit for control of the motion. The basic strategy of the adaptation is to modify the control law and algorithms according to the state of affairs around the machine. Kawato-Ito model is often utilized to build logical structures of the adaptation ability in many types of intelligent mechatronics. This model was originally proposed to explain human brain function for the voluntary motion control. The network intelligent mechatronics is often called networked robot. The intelligent abilities are created by cooperation with other factors via network.
