ABSTRACT

This chapter describes a cooperative framework supporting the teamwork in developing domain-specific Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS) models. It describes modeling and the simulation of domain-specific complex systems and the difficulty of developing those systems. The chapter explains object-oriented (OO) modeling and reviews the DEVS formalism and Unified Modeling Language as background information. It proposes people comodeling methodology in a layered structure form, which is explained in detail. The chapter also describes the switch of functions in the application at run-time or loadtime becomes possible because of the dynamically linked library technology. The main purpose of the OO comodeling methodology is to partition specifications of a domain specific DEVS model into two expert groups: domain engineers and M&S engineers. The chapter develops comodeling methodology within the proposed comodeling methodology. A discrete-event model for QUEUE can be represented by the DEVS formalism.
