ABSTRACT

The Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) over WLAN (VoWLAN) is the transmission of voice information (VoIP) using (one or more of) the 802.11 Wi-Fi standards (a, b, g, n): this combined technology can be used to build autonomous WLAN VoIP networks (e.g., company internal wireless phones) or to integrate wired and wireless telephony in the same IP infrastructure, thus reducing calling charges and also addressing the problem of highly variable cell phone coverage inside buildings.
