The optical resonator is a medium or space that can confine optical waves in three-dimensional space to achieve laser oscillation or amplification including the active medium. In vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL), for example, a couple of multilayer Bragg reflectors are used in its Fabry-Perot cavity formation [1].
