ABSTRACT

In 2014, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Integration Strategy was proposed as a significant national development strategy by the central government of China. The objective of the strategy was to relocate nonessential functions from Beijing in order to adjust the regional economic structure and address problems such as overpopulation, pollution, and resource scarcity. Within the 262 cities, there are five prefecture-level resource-based cities located in Hebei Province. The sustainable development of these cities will definitely affect the successful integration of the Beijing-TianjinHebei region. Therefore, it is of both theoretical and practical significance to evaluate the sustainable development capacity of resource-based cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, so as to find better ways to achieve sustainable and coordinated development for the region.
