The influence of the horizontal load on the stress–strain relationship of an asphalt layer

When the asphalt pavement is loaded by using a car, the rear wheel of the vehicle will generate force that includes the vertical force and the horizontal tangential force. The horizontal tangential force of the asphalt pavement is mainly caused by the friction between the tire and the road surface. The pavement structure and parameters’ values are listed in Table 1.
