Stress response and damage of a masonry structure subjected to ground motion induced by tunnel blasting using modal analysis method

In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s high-speed railway, highway and subway, there are increasingly shallow tunnels undercrossing the aging buildings in the old urban district. When the drilling and blasting method was used to excavate the tunnel, the damage of the aging buildings often occurs because of their weakened seismic capacity. The frequent vibration induced by tunnel blasting will further exacerbate the damage to the building, and even cause serious failure to the building.
