ABSTRACT

Huth et al. (2005) investigated the damage identification using modal data on Romeo bridge in Switzerland. The results suggested that a criterion for damage detection based on the mode shape area may perform better as variations of natural frequencies. Furthermore, the obtained monitoring data showed a considerable influence of environmental parameters and in particular of temperature changes on natural frequencies. In this study, a PCT girder degraded by salt damage was taken into consideration. Therefore, various experiments had been conducted including destructive loading test and vibration tests to reveal the relationship between deterioration situation and vibration characteristics. Moreover, the vibrational parameters and deflections at each stage of loading and unloading were also studied.
