ABSTRACT

So far, there is very few literature deals with damage identification in functionally graded beams. In this study, the artificial bees algorithm is presented to identify structural damage in an axially functionally graded beam. The advantage of the present method lies in only the first several natural frequencies and mode shapes are needed in the identification. A single span simply supported beam is studied as a numerical example to illustrate the correctness and efficiency of the proposed method. Good identified results can be obtained even with noisy measurements.
