ABSTRACT

This paper focuses on the control method for the wake galloping of the straddle sling of suspensions. The finite element method is used to obtain the stiffness and damping of the downstream sling restrained by cable clamps at different positions. And the stability of the downstream sling in the wake flow of the upstream downstream sling is studied based on the aerodynamic coefficients, stiffness and damping of the downstream slings. The results are analyzed to find out an appropriate and efficiently suppression method for the wake galloping of straddle slings in suspension bridges.
