ABSTRACT

The current AS2187.2 does explicitly cover heritage structures, however, based on some historical data, a very conservative limit of 2 mm/s is sometimes specified for both blast and construction induced vibrations. AS2187.2 does recognise the importance of the frequency content in specifying the maximum vibration limit. If the blast has high energy content at the low frequency range, there is a high chance of buildings being excited, hence the vibration limit is reduced.
