ABSTRACT

Previous research has been conducted upon sound fields of wheel track vibration, among which the typical method is the rolling model proposed by Remington. The rolling model deduces functional spectral equation for the vibration velocity of the particles on the rail, and then wheel track spectrogram when trains pass can be available after conducting sweep analysis. Rail transit has shouldering major transport tasks since its advent, and its safety has direct connection to the security of people’s life and property. However, rail breakage is inevitable, so it is of great importance to detect broken rails on a real-time basis. Around the globe, experts and practitioners have made achievements on rail damage detection over the past 200 years. There are various methods for inspection, such as the circuit test, the mechanical waves test and the stress sensor test.
