ABSTRACT

On this subject, a number of methods can be employed to achieve a partial alignment of fibres; these range from using a powerful magnet (in case of steel fibres, Dhir et al., 2002) to extruding the mix (Shao et al., 1997). In this paper, a novel methodology is presented that accurately aligns fibres embedded into cementitious mixes. Their performance has been measured testing FRC beams subject to three point bending. The final goal of this research is to better understand how FRS behaves with random fibre loading and to quantify the efficiency of aligned fibres.
