ABSTRACT

The current study numerically investigates the variation of concrete permeability under loading, considering the concrete as 3-phase heterogeneous material consists of cement paste, aggregate and Interfacial Transition Zone (ITZ). ITZ is considered to be the weakest link in concrete matrix and known as the place where microcracks initiate (Yang 2010). An innovative method to numerically investigate the permeability of stressed concrete is proposed in this paper. The current research work is expected to produce an analytical model to determine the permeability deterioration induced by applied loading.
