ABSTRACT

The results presented in this study are of 4 pairs of short and slender reinforced UHPFRC columns of 150 mm square cross section and of 900 mm in height for short columns and 1600 mm in height for slender columns. For each category, one column was tested under concentrically placed axial load and 3 columns were tested under eccentrically placed axial load with eccentricities, of 35 mm, 50 mm, and 85 mm, to determine a range of failure points under varying combined loading conditions. 1 column was tested as a beam of clear span 1350 mm subjected to three point bending with no axial load. All the columns were reinforced with four bars of 16 mm diameter as longitudinal reinforcement. The transverse reinforcement of 6 mm diameter spaced at 85 mm center to center was also provided in all the test specimens. The short and slender columns are designated by letters “SC” and “LC”, respectively followed by the number which corresponds to the applied load eccentricity, such as the short column tested under load eccentricity of 35 mm can be represented as SC−35. The beam specimen is designated by SB-∞.
