ABSTRACT

Although glass fibre has excellent corrosion resistance and low self-weight, it has not been used yet in RPC. The same is true for glass-steel hybrid fibre. However, cement mortar with glass fibre has been used for many architectural purposes. In addition, the premix glass fibre reinforced cementitious composite (known as glass fibre reinforced concrete) has been applied in some structural concretes with compressive strength ranging between 40 MPa and 60 MPa (Ferreira & Branco 2007). Moreover, NF-RPC similar to glass fibre reinforced concrete has no coarse aggregate. Therefore, it is expected that use of NF-RPC instead of the conventional mortar to produce GFR-RPC will increase the compressive strength of this glass reinforced concrete composite.
