ABSTRACT
The National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) is a database of digital images of fired bullets and cartridge cases from crime scenes and known firearms. NIBIN can generate investigational leads in shooting cases by informing the investigator if the firearm used in one crime was also used in another crime. NIBIN can help develop a suspect where there was none before on a case by linking it to another case that does have a suspect.
