ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT In recent years, many types of surface penetrant have been developed and examined for improvement of concrete durability. In literatures, the examination of concrete durability applied surface penetrant has been reported, and an effect of these have been reported. However, these examinations targeted new structures. There are only few attempts that targeted old structures (having some deterioration before applied surface penetrant). Investigating the relation between the condition of concrete before applied penetrant and the progress of deterioration after applied penetrant was important for planning of maintenance of concrete structures. Main objective of this study is to investigate the relation between the condition of concrete before penetrant applied and the progress of deterioration into concrete applied penetrant. The result of this study, it was indicated that the deterioration control was different with the timing of penetrant applied into concrete.
