ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT This paper gives insight about the development process of a common reliability assessment concept, which meets the requirements of all relevant modes of transport in Germany. Given the current context of aging infrastructure and increasing environmental stressors, the concept aims at establishing a maintenance management strategy involving all modes of transport. Thus, a cross-cutting research programme, namely the BMVI-Network of Experts, was initiated 2016 by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), as owner of the infrastructure at federal waterways. One of the main objectives is to develop reliability-based approaches towards the assessment of infrastructures. In the early phase, each of the involved federal authorities focuses on specific aspects of reliability assessment in order to build a profound knowledge database. The actual status of the research programme is presented using some of the results achieved so far.
