ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT To achieve a sustainable and energy efficient building sector and to comply with the EU climate targets (European Commission 2017), decision criteria in early planning phases have to be evaluated regarding ecological and economic impacts during the whole life cycle of a building. The research project ‘Design2Eco’ evaluates data from recent office buildings to detect the crucial building components which influence the ecological and economic performance the most. The study of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) und Life Cycle Costing (LCC) shows, that there are certain dependencies on architectural design and there is a lack of ecological information on data of building services. A decision criteria scheme is developed, which helps to improve the economic and ecological behavior of the building by optimising the drivers in early planning phases. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety.
