ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Composite girder bridges called “pre-flexed beam bridges” have been applied in Japan. This type of bridge is made by the pre-stressing method, so the concrete needs to harden early and have high strength. The concrete needs high workability to be placed in the narrow space. When the bridge is subjected to chloride attack, the steel parts of the bridge may be corroded by the chloride ion penetration into concrete. The purpose of this study is to investigate of the life cycle cost (LCC) of the bridge and the constructability of the FA concrete. For this purpose, the LCC estimation of the actual designed bridge was carried out. As result, the LCC of the pre-flexed beam bridge was improved by mixing FA. Based on the test results, FA concrete had the flow ability and the filling-ability in the same degree as the ordinary concrete.
