ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT The paper presents how qualitative risk analyses based on available inspection data contribute to maintenance management systems by providing comprehensive condition assessment criteria. The developed approach is illustrated using the example of the prioritization of maintenance measures for infrastructures of the federal waterways in Germany. The qualitative method Failure Mode and Effects Analysis identifies and assesses potential failure causes as well as related cause-effect-chains. The actual risk assessment is based on a set of criteria which is modified especially for the needs of maintenance management systems. In context with a condition assessment procedure, these criteria are used to produce additional key figures providing a comprehensive view of the actual condition of the object.
