ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT The uncertainties of the design, execution and maintenance participate in the increase of the dynamic impact on the structures. In the maintenance of the bridges we can observe that each factor is relevant on the total value of design dynamic impact. Knowing each percentage of importance makes the process of maintenance of each responsible area easier, which was initially done intuitively to be able to locate where the trigger of the problem was. Theoretically we lack parameters to obtain the variables that allow us to use an adequate analysis of reliability. However, it was necessary to approach the problem experimentally, by assembling a known vehicle, bridge and track, isolating known defect patterns, to be able to measure the relevance of each variable within the dynamic amplification. This global instrumentation project is certainly the first instrumentation on the world, isolating defects of the vehicle, track and bridge, more interestingly, the whole company managed to work together with a common purpose which was and efficient maintenance of bridges. We obtained the importance of each parameter, final coefficient of experimental dynamic impact measured for two bridges. It was also obtained the responsibility percent that each parameter on the residual life of the structure, being able to convert this into monetary numbers and a more real decision making.
