ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: This study explores the creep behaviors of schist in different water contents and establishes the creep model and its constitutive equations. First, the in situ displacement tests were conducted and the time-dependent deformation regularity of surrounding rock was studied based on the sericite schist tunnel construction in the northwest area of Hubei Province of China. Then, rock samples were taken and shear creep tests were conducted along the direction of schistosity plane in natural and saturated states. On the basis of the results of in situ and laboratory tests, a viscoelastic-plastic creep model was constructed by model identification and introducing a nonlinear rheological component. Finally, parameters of the creep model were obtained by multiple regression and back analysis and the rationality of the creep model was verified by comparing it with the experimental data.
