ABSTRACT
Candelilla industry is well located in the Mexican states of Coahuila and Nuevo Leon, and it is of worldwide relevance because the candelilla wax is a natural product of excellent quality for multiple applications due its chemical, thermal, rheological, structural and biological properties. Candelilla wax has the required national and international certificates for its use free of risk in products used in several human activities. However, there are several conditions limiting the great potential of commercialization of this product. Candelilla industry can grows rapidly if certain risks are well identified, defined and documented. Quality and Quantity of candelilla wax are not the two main challenges of candelilla industry, because of the impact of this sector involves social, environmental, technological, scientific aspects, it is important to promote a renewed program of candelilla adapted under the conditions of the modern life and commercial requirements.
