ABSTRACT
Canine and feline patients suffering from critical illness trauma or undergoing invasive surgical procedures often require treatment with blood products. As the quality of care provided to veterinary patients has grown exponentially, so has the technology and complexity associated with transfusion therapy. Appropriate screening of donors and recipients to minimize risks, and tailoring of therapy for specific needs has become the standard of care.
