ABSTRACT

Phrenic nerve schwannomas are rare. We present the case of a 40-year-old with an unsuspected large anterior mediastinal mass. It was completely resected, and histopathology demonstrated this to be a schwannoma associated with the phrenic nerve. Postoperatively, the patient did well and had no respiratory symptoms, despite left hemidiaphragm eventration and no evidence of tumor at a nine-month follow-up.
