ABSTRACT

During fetal development, the failure of the fusion of lateral mesoderm can result in various tracheal agenesis or atresia. The male to female ratio incidence of these defects is 2:1. Often these abnormalities are associated with other congenital anomalies [1]. Isolated congenital trachea-esophageal fistula presenting in otherwise normally developed adolescent is rare. We report a case of 20-year-old female presenting with minimal respiratory symptoms and finding of an upper trachea esophageal fistula.
