ABSTRACT

An intricate web of IT architecture and application programming interfaces were necessary to manage both our lending operations and the data flow for analysis. Infrastructure and reporting across functional areas were developed in an “agile” framework, popular in software development for rapid deployment of a product in an iterative fashion. Management needs real-time performance metrics across the organization’s functional areas for efficiently making decisions and determining overall strategy. Organizations cannot eliminate risk entirely, nor can they truly predict black swans, but they can operate under the assumption that those events will occur. The big data paradigm shift has already occurred, yet many organizations with massive amounts of data are only focused on the storage or engineering aspect rather than mining for insights. Many organizations have very capable teams of analysts producing detailed reports that unfortunately have little relevance to the business’s actual goals.
