ABSTRACT

Renewable energies are being introduced at an accelerated pace in recent years, which is a hopeful sign of a more reasonable energy system in the future. This chapter shows that solar resource growth at the current pace has to be achieved in a sustainable energy system without major environmental problems. Solar energy is by far the largest source of clean energy, and we must use it wisely so as not to damage the environment while covering all our present and future energy needs. In a nutshell, there are lots of researches, development, and innovation challenges, and interested solar companies have to boost their involvement in these processes if they want to win the competitive battles that are being presented. The chapter provides a brief review of thermal energy of medium and high temperature attained by systems of concentration of the direct component of solar radiation.
