ABSTRACT
The exact solution at selected values of time, obtained by solving Eq. (7.3) by the secant method, is tabulated in Table 7.1 and illustrated in Figure 7.2.
The vertical flight of a rocket, illustrated at the bottom of Figure 7.1, is considered in this chapter to illustrate finite difference methods for solving higher-order initial-value ODEs. This problem is discussed in Section II.5 and solved in Sections 7.12 and 7.13.
