ABSTRACT

Ahmad & others (2016) discussed the methods of water sludge disposal-see Table 3. The interesting solution is the use of water sludge for conditioning and dewatering of sewage sludge. The studies have confirmed that the use of water sludge with aluminum improves the sludge dewatering characteristic and sludge density. Aluminum in sewage sludge acts as a “skeleton” and makes sludge less compressible, which results in its more efficient dewatering. Additionally, it was proven that the use of water sludge improves the removal of phosphorus from the supernatant (Lai et al. 2004). The mixture of sewage sludge and water sludge (at a volumetric ratio 2:1) can reduce the phosphorus load in the supernatant by 99% (Yang et al. 2007). In turn, Płonka & Barbusiński (2010) used water sludge from the water treatment plant in the co-digestion process of sewage sludge.
