ABSTRACT

Silk fibroin has found diverse applications in the biomedical field, such as dermal substitute, tympanic membrane, dressing, bone, and drug delivery. This chapter covers tunable biocompatible silk fibroin materials such as membranes, hydrogels, nanofibers, and nano-/microporous scaffolds to modulate tissue engineering. This chapter focuses on fabrication, characterization, and preclinical work for biomedical applications.
