ABSTRACT

Scaffolds made from carbonate apatite may be one of the promising scaffolds for regenerative medicine since carbonate apatite up-regulate osteoblastic differentiation process and shows excellent tissue response. Also, carbonate apatite is resorbed by osteoclastic cells and replaced by bone when implanted in the bone defect. In this chapter, fabrication of carbonate apatite scaffolds is stated, along with cell and tissue response to carbonate apatite.
