ABSTRACT
In Chapters 7 and 8, we have found a lot of indications and evidences
that the metal ion inserted into M-DNA is located between the bases of a base pair, as shown in Fig. 7.1. Several are listed as follows:
(1) The π-π∗ absorption spectrum of A-T base pairs is markedly suppressed by the insertion of metal ions, such as Mn and Fe,
as shown in Figs. 7.5 and 7.6, suggesting strong interaction
between the bases and the metal ions.
