ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the theory of image formation in full-field

optical coherence microscopy (FF-OCM). The equations describing

image formation, includingmain experimental parameters of the FF-

OCM setup, are derived. The principle of coherence-gated imaging

is further analyzed and the terminology of coherence effects in FF-

OCM is discussed. The coherence effects related to longitudinal and

transverse resolution are analyzed. Finally, the influence of a sample

refractive index on the detection of a coherence signal from the

depth of a sample is considered.
