ABSTRACT

Many infectious diseases are known to be treated with herbal remedies throughout the history of mankind. Even today, plant materials continue to play a major role in primary health care as therapeutic remedies in many developing countries. During the last few years, antimicrobial properties of extracts and natural products have been intensively investigated as the demand for safe drugs has increased due to the misuse of antibiotics and an increase in immuno-deficiency. The bacterial cultures were grown in N-broth. The cultures were grown for at least three generations to the late logarithmic phase. Long-term stability of the extracts for potency was checked by Drug Stability Assay. Cefotaxime selectively interfere with synthesis of the bacterial cell wall - a structure that mammalian cell does not possess. It is well known that plants have been a valuable source of products to treat a wide range of medical problems, including ailments caused by microbial infection.
