ABSTRACT

14Controlling of fiber diameter during electrospinning is a vital aim for many applications like scaffolds for tissue engineering. A quantitative study on the effects of processing variables enables us to manipulate the properties of electrospun nanofibers. In this article, Taguchi experimental design, as a simple technique, was utilized for investigating the effects of the most important parameters, namely, solution concentration, spinning distance, applied voltage, and volume flow rate on the diameter of electrospun polyvinyl alcohol nanofibers. Various and even contradictory effects, such as increasing or decreasing the diameter of the nanofibers polyvinyl alcohol, are related to different experimental conditions on the diameter of the nanofibers. By comparison, between dates, the longest distribution of diameter electrospun polyvinyl alcohol nanofibers was obtained at the experimental condition with high concentration, moderate spinning distance, low applied voltage, and high flow rate.
