ABSTRACT

2The co-precipitation method was used to synthesis Fe-Al mixed oxide. The morphology of the nanoparticles was characterized by XRD, TGA-DTA, and SEM Analysis. The nanoparticles synthesized where spherical in nature. Fe-Al mixed oxide is amorphous. Fe-Al mixed oxide fluoride removal efficiency and its capacity for fluoride removal was investigated through batch experiments. The effect of different parameters like, contact time, pH of solution, adsorbent dosage, initial fluoride concentration and temperature were investigated to determine the adsorption capacity of Fe-Al mixed oxide. It was observed that 81.4% fluoride removal efficiency was achieved in 3 hours at a pH of 7 and adsorbent dose of 2 g/L. The maximum adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was found to be 8.196 mg/g. The data obtained was found to best fit the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic model.
